Target Groups Education and Awareness Training and Info days were organised in Istria on the 03-04 of May 2016. First day of the event was focused on the environmental threats caused by accidents at the sea as well as presentation of the firefighting ships design created within Holistic project. Demonstration of the accident on the opened sea with the firefighting ship brigade intervention was organized in the town of Pula in the southern part of Istria. Region of Istria presented its experience in firefighting on the Turkish ship UND ADRIYATIK which happened in February 2008. The second day of the event was held in the town of Buzet, located in the central part of the Region of Istria. After the presentation of the project results in the territory, there took place an award ceremony for students who participated in the competition for the best graphical design of posters promoting forest fire prevention in the forests under surveillance of Croatian Forests, focused on biomass.

The Region of Istria, as FB6 of the project Holistic, organised training and info day for firefighters in the Region on the 30th of April 2016.
Trainings were organised in the location of Marušići forest, close to the Slovenian border, and have been participated by guests from Italian and Slovenian firefighting brigades.
Over 200 participants have been engaged in this event, during which brigade operators tested and applied procedures, protocols of coordination and intervention and demonstrated the level of readiness of the firefighting brigades for the forthcoming fire season, also with the help of light and heavy air vehicles intervention.

Within the IPA Adriatic Cross-Border Cooperation 2007-2013, funded by the EU and the realization of the project Holistic model of integral protection of forest fires - HOLISTIC, in the Municipality of Posušje, on 13th january 2016, was held meeting of the project team, who made the decision about establishment of the biomass furnace in the mountain house in Masna Luka.

In addition to the project team, the meeting was also attended by mayor of Posušje Branko Bago, as well as representatives of the Local Economic Council of the Municipality of Posušje. It was concluded that the new heating biomass supports sustainable use of biomass protection of valuable natural resources, what is one of the goals of this project.

The first idea was to set the biomass furnace in Rakitno, in their school, but UNDP already bought it for the same school. So, project team HOLISTIC, on the meeting in Posušje, decided about other location for setting up the furnace. They concluded that the best location is in the mountain house in Masna Luka.

5th Project and Steering Committee Meeting of the strategic project HOLISTIC was held in Agrotourism Marica Gaj in Grude 19-21.04.2016. and organized by The Government of the West Herzegovina Canton and with the tehnical support of Regional agency for development – REDAH.

Praiseworthy project is intended to reduce the number and the impact of forest fires, to protect people, natural environment and properties, and in particular to promote fire prevention among rural communities in fire prone areas of regions facing the Adriatic. 20 partners from 8 countries: Italy, Greece, Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Albania, Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro gave an overview on the current state of project implementation according to work-packages. Also, they were discussing about further project activities.

On the second day of the meeting it also took place a Conference lead by prime minister of the West Herzegovina Canton, Zdenko Ćosić, lead partner Split-Dalmatia County, Anđelka Vuković, project manager of the Government of the West Herzegovina Canton, Vesna Hrsto and Head of the Eu funds from Split-Dalmatia County, Anđelko Katavić.

In addition to the project team, the meeting was also attended by mayor of Posušje Branko Bago, as well as representatives of the Local Economic Council of the Municipality of Posušje.

The operational center will be located in the Fire service in Posušje, and the goals before fire and after fire activities are to introduce better caution especially when it comes to larger fires. This is the way to reduce number and impact of forest fire, to protect people, natural surrounding and properties, also to promote the prevention of fires among rural communities in areas of the Adriatic region prone to fire.

WP9 international seminar: Seismic risk on strategic buildings: assessment, prevention and monitoring in Venzone

On 24-25 of February there took place in Venzone (Udine) the international seminar organized by FB12 Civil Protection of Autonomous Region Friuli Venezia Giulia on “Seismic risk on strategic buildings: assessment, prevention and monitoring IPA and EU Policy Makers International seminar”.

At least 60 participants follow the speeches of Adriano De Sortis of Italian National civil Protection Department, of Prof. Marco Mucciarelli of Istituto Nazionale di Oceanografia e Geofisica Sperimentale - OGS di Trieste, of Prof. Giovanni Costa from Trieste University, of Prof. Stefano Grimaz from Udine University, of Prof. Wolfgang A. Lenhardt from ZAMG, of Slovenian experts Marjana Lutman from ZAG and Polona Zupančič from ARSO. The Wp9 partners also presented the result and the ongoing activities in the seminar topics.

WP3: Roundtable on the possible application of the best European practices in fire protection in the area of ​​Dubrovnik and Neretva Region

Besides the capitalization and sustainability, the main topics of the roundtable were focusing the attention on the activities of the Region of Istria and the project of the video surveillance in the Dubrovnik and Neretva Region.

A special part of the meeting was dedicated to the application of meteorology in fire protection.

Ivana Tomasevic on behalf of the Croatian Hydro Meteorological Service added her contribution about the impact of climate change on the potential risk of forest fires and weather conditions during fire fighting plants.

Within the activities of the project HOLISTIC, in Dubrovnik was held a round table discussing  possible application of best practices in the field of prevention and protection against fire from the participating countries in the fire protection system in the area of ​​Dubrovnik and Neretva Region.
