A two-days meeting of the HOLISTIC project partners was held in Dubrovnik with its main goal of exchange of experiences on fire prevention and intervention during the fire spreading to the border areas.
The commander of the fire department of Dubrovnik and Neretva Region Stjepan Simovic spoke about the experience of fire protection and previous fires in the border area of Dubrovnik and Neretva Region, and about the difficulties and opportunities for cooperation in the prevention of fire exposed by representatives of the Protection and Rescue of the Municipality of Herceg Novi Alexander Škobalj and Vidak Vukovic.
On the 30th of May 2016 the Municipality of Ajdovščina (FB13) organized a training course in drone use for four civil protection members. The main focus of the training course was related to the UAV system, its deployment and use in pre-fire, fire and post-fire activities. Following the general presentation of the system and its components, the participants were introduced with the basic aviation concepts and educated about the functionalities of the UAV system.
President of the Dubrovnik and Neretva Region held a press conference and handed fifteen devices for remote control of vehicles (GPS) to the commander of the Public Fire Brigade Dubrovacko primorje Ivo Franušić and commander of the Public Fire Brigade Konavle Mario Magud. The devices are acquired in the course of realization of the project HOLISTIC which Dubrovnik and Neretva Region is carrying out the past two years.
Šibenik-Knin County, in cooperation with Firefighting community of Šibenik-Knin County, organised Educational workshop for preschool children course on 30th May 2016 in kindergarten “Šibenski tići” in Šibenik.
Workshop was organised as a part of WP8 activities and with aim of awareness raising among preschool children about importance of fire prevention and environmental protection.
On the 27th of May 2016 the Municipality of Ajdovščina (FB13) held an educational and awareness campaign for children in the town of Ajdovščina. The campaign was held as part of the Let’s Play for Safety educational event that the Municipality organizes each year with the intent to teach the children, through fun activities, about traffic and fire safety. Since Holistic Project attracted great interest at last year’s event, it was almost necessary to join the event this years as well.
On 22 June 2016 the Municipality of Ajdovščina (FB13) organized an educational seminar for instructors and lecturer of the Educational Centre for Rescue and Protection. The main focus of the seminar was the monitoring system together with the monitoring equipment and the UAV system. The participants were introduced with the Holistic project and the monitoring system in general, whereas external experts described the UAV system and the functionalities of the monitoring system in detail.
In Cetinje, on 31 May and 1 June, took place the International conference of the Adriatic IPA project "HOLISTIC", which refers to a holistic model of integral protection of forest fires and earthquakes.
During the conference, participants were addressed by Director of Business Center and Project Coordinator for Project Partner Royal Capital Cetinje, Luka Jovicevic, a representative of the Ministry of Interior of Montenegro, Director General of Emergency Situations, Ljuban Tmušić, as well as the director of the Seismological Institute of Montenegro, Branislav Glavatovic.
Conference, organized by the Business Center Cetinje was attended by partners from the Adriatic and Ionian region, which ,along with the Old Royal Capital Cetinje, participate in the Project, including external collaborators - experts, who are part of this project deployed for the projections in Montenegro Country.
On 21 June 2016 in the hall of Split-Dalmatia County Deputy Prefect Luka Brčić awarded 25 GPS devices to ten (10) Volunteer Fire Departments (DVD) as one of the activities in the project HOLISTIC (holistic model of integral protection from forest fires).
GPS devices were given to : DVD Trogir, DVD Mladost, DVD Kastel Gomilica-, DVD Kaštela, DVD Gata, DVD Kučiće, DVD Omis, DVD Dugi Rat, DVD Makarska- and JVP Split.
The Commander of the Fire Department of Split Dalmatia County, Mr. Dražen Glavina, in the name of all Volunteer Fire Departments (DVD), thanked for the donation of GPS devices and stressed out how important their role will be important in giving information about the location of firefighters and their vehicles in case of fire.
